All Lotus Blinds products are made for a trouble-free performance. Shade fabrics are specially treated to repel dust and dirt. Horizontal aluminium blinds are treated with Dust Shield, an anti-static paint additive that inhibits dust build-up.

While beautiful and pleasing to the eye, all Lotus Blinds Products are designed to be durable, easily cared for and easily cleaned. Our Blinds are inherently anti-static and repel dust but occasional feather dusting or vacuuming made be necessary to keep the slats clean and bright.

Wood Blinds

Occasional light vacuuming with a brush attachment should keep blinds clean. More severe soiling can be removed from painted blinds by using a soft, damp cloth. Spills or stains can be cleaned with soap and water.

  • Regular dusting maintains the like-new appearance of most blinds.
  • Vacuuming: For deeper cleaning, vacuum gently with brush attachment of any vacuum cleaner.
  • Compressed Air or Hair Dryer (non-heat setting): Blow dust off selected window coverings.
  • Spot-Cleaning: Spot-clean shades and blinds with soft cloth or sponge moistened with lukewarm water.
  • Do not use strong detergents or spot removers.

Vertical Blinds

Take the blinds down. Put some ammonia and detergent in dishpan with warm water. Use large floor type scrub brush and brush them with this sudsy mixture, and squirt off with garden hose until fully rinsed. Wait about 1 hour until mostly dry and rehang. This works faster and better than trying to clean them while still hanging in the home.

Enzyme Spray

For dirt and pet hair on vertical blinds, I would try to use a natural enzyme spray found in the pet section of a store. Spray both sides of the blind (if they are not lined) wait a day to let dry then vacuum. I have found the enzyme sprays to work well on a lot of stains around the house. For the new vinyl vertical blinds I use the wet swifter sheets to wipe dust, dirt and grime off.
